I’m very much looking forward to seeing innovation and creativity in action at the next DHL Innovation Day (November 17, 2016). This will be the first opportunity to compare the shortlisted logistics and supply chain prototypes and concepts emerging from the 2016 DHL Innovation Challenges (submission deadlines: September 14 & 28, 2016).

One of these two initiatives is the Robotics Challenge, requiring entrants – universities, students, companies, and other visionaries – to pit their prototype of a self-driving delivery cart against others through a demanding obstacle course. The second initiative is the Fair & Responsible Logistics Challenge, requiring participants to create and showcase sustainable logistics solutions for the world of tomorrow.

My hope is that E&M submissions to these two DHL Innovation Challenges will make it all the way to the top. This would be an excellent showcase to tempt the next generation of key talent into E&M industries. At a time when student applications into manufacturing is on the decrease, this is an essential time for E&M to demonstrate to potential employees that the modern factory is an exciting epicenter of innovation, with intelligent and sustainable E&M processes.

I know that E&M’s got talent. Let’s hope that these challenges provide the platform and publicity to showcase this talent to the world!
